BaT Auction: 1987 Buick Grand National

This 1987 Buick Grand National shows 82k miles and was acquired 13 years ago by the seller, who has since driven it approximately 5k miles. 1987 was the final year of Grand National production, and the seller states that he is the third owner of this example. The turbocharged and intercooled 3.8L V6 has been modified with an aftermarket turbocharger and camshaft, as well as an open-element air filter. The body wears an older repaint in black, and the car has moved with the seller from Alabama to California. This GN is now being offered in Brentwood, California with an accident-free Carfax and a clean Alabama title in the seller’s name.

The car has been repainted once in black and is equipped with T-tops, a deck lid spoiler, cowl hood, and blackout trim. The seller states that it been garage-kept throughout his ownership. Swirls can be seen in the finish along with some stone chips on the hood. The front bumper shows scuffs at both corners, and the bumper fillers are cracked and missing a section on the driver’s side as shown above.

The turbocharged and intercooled 3.8L V6 was rated at 245 hp and 355 lb-ft torque for the 1987 model year. A Turbo-Hydromatic 200R4 4-speed automatic was the only transmission offered. This example has been modified with an aftermarket turbocharger and camshaft, and an open-element air filter has also been fitted. Service records are said to be limited, though an oil service was performed last year. The seller states that the car requires a new PCV valve and will not currently pass California emissions.
