Orphan brands, low-slung postwar coupes, period NASCAR tribute liveries and Paul Newman are all very, very cool, which is why we were pretty excited to see all four covered in this week’s Video Inspiration. Covered here with the kind of genuine enthusiasm and great detail we’ve come to expect from Jay Leno’s Garage (and in particular the long-running, non-network, YouTube edition), marque historian Dave Bonbright’s fabulous 1951 Hudson Hornet served as inspiration for the character Doc Hudson in Disney-Pixar’s Cars–Newman’s final role.
Even without the King Cool connections it’d be a fascinating and beautiful piece of machinery, thanks to its Twin H-Power L-head straight-six, unibody construction, hybrid hydraulic-mechanical brakes and bootlegger history to name just a few. Check it out below.
