This 1960 Wolseley 6/99 is a rare sight with factory LHD and its claimed-original red leather interior, and overall presents as a nice looking driver-level example of the Pininfarina-styled, straight-six powered luxury sedan. The seller says it still runs well, but will need new tires to be a safe driver. Originally sold new in Canada, the car sounds to be mostly complete as well, with the ad noting that often-missing factory items like the jack, wheel chock and starting handle are all included. Find it here on Craigslist in Redwood City, California for $4,500 or trade for listed vehicles. Special thanks to BaT reader Kyle K. for this submission.
Though saddled with a somewhat stodgy roofline, Pininfarina’s styling did provide a good deal of design flair, including the dart-like belt line trim and unusually well-resolved tailfins/taillights. This car looks to be mostly straight all around, with decent paint and complete glass and trim.
Glass looks to be all there as well. Records show ~13,000 of these Mk1 cars were made between 1959 and 1961, with a further ~24k churned out between ’61 and ’68. We’ve seen some painted with a contrasting color framed by belt line trim, which adds a nice bit of dimension.
Inside, the driver’s seat shows some expected wear, but everything else including the rear bench and door panels (visible in additional photos in the ad) show quite well for their age, but with enough patina to lend some weight to claims of originality.
Here’s the 2.9 liter BMC C-series six, running dual factory carbs and reported to be in good running condition. This is a variant of the same six used in the Austin-Healey 100-6, so parts availability and servicing information should be better than expected. Hopefully a PPI turns up well, and all the car needs is a set of tires to be back on the road adding miles.
