This 1977 Mercedes-Benz 450SL is finished in Signal Red over black leather and shows 133,505 miles. The car was purchased new from Rasmussen Mercedes in Portland and has reportedly remained in the area with three owners, the most recent of whom was well-known enthusiast Bob Lanphere. Power comes from an unmodified 4.5-liter V8 equipped with the California emissions package (494) and paired to a 4-speed automatic transmission. One repaint in the factory color has been performed, and the car has also been fitted with newer leather seat upholstery and trunk carpeting, a Blaupunkt Newport stereo, an R134a A/C conversion, a replacement soft top, and a non-original windshield. This R107 is now being offered at no reserve by Cascadia Classic with partial service records, a stamped service booklet, factory manuals, the original data plate, and a clean Oregon state title.
A high-quality professional repaint was completed years ago in correct Signal Red (568). All trim was removed, and there is no sign of overspray or tape lines according to the seller. The windshield was replaced during the repaint, and over 30 exterior photos are provided in the extensive gallery below.
A replacement soft top is equipped and features clear plastic windows as depicted above. Recently, the trunk was reupholstered as shown in the gallery. It contains what appears to be an unused OEM spare wheel/tire along with a complete factory tool kit.
The seats were also recently reupholstered with new black leather similar to the original color. No cracks or splits are present on the dashboard as shown below.
A Blaupunkt Newport stereo head-unit is installed, and the seller reports that the original Hirschmann radio antenna works well. Per the seller instrumentation, signals, lights, the windshield wipers, heater, fan, horn, and power windows all function correctly. The A/C system has been converted to R134a but reportedly needs a recharge.
The stock 4.5-liter V8 is equipped with the California emissions package (494) and is mated to a factory 4-speed automatic transmission. No modifications have been made in the engine bay to the seller’s knowledge, and the engine oil/filter were changed approximately 100 miles ago.
Service records indicate past maintenance including a new alternator, engine belts, water pump, and center driveline support bearing. A stamped service booklet accompanies the sale, along with factory manuals and the original data plate.
This R107 was part of a factory sub-frame recall in 1985, and the required reinforcement brackets were installed at a Mercedes-Benz dealer. Additional undercarriage images are displayed in the gallery below.
