BaT Auction: Modified 1996 Ford Bronco at No Reserve

This 1996 Ford Bronco has reportedly spent its life in Arizona and Nevada and underwent a 2-wheel drive conversion, suspension modifications, and brake system updates under previous ownership. The work was performed by the owner of Rusty’s Total Performance in Tucson, Arizona, where the truck subsequently saw daily use as a shop vehicle. Power comes from a 351ci V8 that has been fitted with an Edelbrock intake and is backed by a Ford Lightning automatic transmission. This Bronco was acquired 15 months ago by the seller, who has since installed new exterior and interior cosmetic items, as well as a long list of fuel system, cooling, and exhaust parts as described below. It is now offered at no reserve with records from the seller’s ownership, a clean Carfax report, and a clear Nevada title.

The 351ci V8 has been fitted with an Edelbrock Performer intake and a set of Ford Racing rocker covers. 2017 work included replacement of the fuel injectors, pressure regulator, throttle body, idle air control motor, ignition module, and distributor along with a variety of filters, sensors, and tune-up parts. Cooling is from a new radiator and fan clutch, while the exhaust system received a fresh catalytic converter and three new oxygen sensors. The Motorcraft battery is just over a year old.

An automatic transmission was sourced by Rusty’s from a 1995 Ford Lightning and fitted with a shift kit, while the remainder of the driveline was converted to a 2-wheel drive set-up. Front brakes were also borrowed from the Lightning, and a new master cylinder was fitted in 2017. The seller notes that the V8 drops oil when parked for several days.

The truck rides low thanks to a C-notched frame, lowering beams from DJM, a custom rear axle flip, and rear airbag helper springs. The fuel tank was modified to improve ground clearance, with the seller pointing out a custom hump to accommodate the in-tank fuel pump. Underbody photos show the general condition of the suspension and frame.
